IWKA Membership

The purpose of the IWKA is to spread and preserve true Isshin-Ryu Karate Kobudo as created by the founder, Grandmaster Tatsuo Shimabuku, and currently taught by his eldest son, Master Kichiro Shimabuku.

The IWKA was founded in 1974. There are presently almost 50,000 members in our growing association worldwide.

The IWKA issues all legitimate Dan grades as well as Instructors Licenses and the traditional titles of Renshi-Go, Kyoshi-Go, and Hanshi-Go.

Every two years Master Kichiro Shimabuku overseas the IWKA World Championships.
